2006 年總統農業獎定於自即日開始公告徵選，獎項類別計有糧食安全獎、農業創新獎、服務卓越獎、生態保育獎及農業和平獎，每類獎項將選出 1 名得獎者，預定於明年 2 月間由 總統親自頒發獎座及獎狀，另頒獎金 100 萬元。

　　農委會表示， 2005 年辦理首屆總統農業獎成果深獲肯定， 2006 年決定繼續規劃辦理。為廣徵各界熱烈參與，該會於今（ 16 ）日起全面公告徵選，期間至今年 8 月 31 日止，前後兩個半月，此外，徵選對象在個人與團體之外，增列團體所屬之團隊，期能有更多對農業有重大貢獻的參選者接受推薦。

　　農委會說， 2006 年獎項類別與 2005 年相同，其中糧食安全獎為獎勵穩定人類糧食供應、促進糧食生產安全者；農業創新獎為獎勵創新農業價值體系、增進農業產銷效率者；服務卓越獎為鼓勵農業公共服務、提昇農村生活品質者；生態保育獎為獎勵保育生態維護環境、確保永續農業發展者；農業和平獎為獎勵推動國際農業合作、促進人類和平共榮者。其中糧食安全獎及農業和平獎為國際獎項，國內外參選者均可接受推薦，另 3 獎項僅限推薦國內參選者。總統農業獎評選分為初審及決審，初審將以專業審查為主，各獎項選出 3 位入圍者，再邀請素孚眾望之社會賢達擔任決審委員，決定每獎項 1 名得獎者，公開表揚其事蹟，並於 2006 年 2 月間，由 總統親自頒給獎座及獎狀，同時頒發獎金新台幣 100 萬元。

The 2006 Presidential Agriculture Awards open for nomination

The Council of Agriculture (COA) is pleased to announce today to kick off nomination for the 2006 Presidential Agriculture Awards. There are five categories - Agricultural Security Award, Agricultural Innovation Award, Agricultural Service Award, Sustainable Development Award, and Agricultural Equilibrium Award, with one winner for each category. The President will personally present the NT$1 million awards to each winner in a ceremony in February 2006.

The COA said its sponsorship of the first Presidential Agriculture Awards in 2005 was highly acclaimed, and it was thus encouraged to sponsor the 2006 Awards. To attract wider participation, the COA announces on June 16 the opening of the selection process, which will last for two and a half months to close on August 31. In addition to individuals and organizations to be qualified as entrants in the Awards last year, organizations' subgroups will be eligible to contest in the 2006 Awards. It is hoped that all those who contribute greatly to agricultural development can be included into the selection.

COA said the award categories are the same as last year. The Food Security Award will go the one(s) making outstanding contributions in stabilizing food supplies and promoting food production security. The Agricultural Innovation Award is for the one(s) who renovates agricultural value systems to increase efficiency in production and marketing. The Agricultural Service Award is for the one(s) engaged in public services to upgrade rural living quality. The Sustainable Development Award is for the one(s) contributing to ecological conservation and environmental protection to ensure sustainable agricultural development. The Agricultural Equilibrium Award is for the one(s) supporting international agricultural cooperation for world peace and prosperity. The Food Security Award and the Agricultural Equilibrium Award are international awards, for recommended entrants regardless of their nationalities. The other three awards are open only to ROC citizens or entities.

The review procedures consist of preliminary review and final review. The preliminary review will focus on the entrants' professional achievements with the top three of each award category to be admitted into the final review. Social dignitaries will be invited as members of the Final Review Committee to determine the winner of each award category. Winners will be publicly recognized. The President will personally present a certificate, a trophy and NT$1 million awards to each winner in a ceremony in February 2006.
